I Started Jelliebend With $3,000 and a Sewing Machine

I started Jelliebend from my tiny NYC apartment while training as a professional contortionist. The combination of scoliosis, hypermobility, and all those deep backbends left my body craving support, but everything I tried felt bulky, restrictive, scratchy, or just unbearable for my ADHD, sensory-sensitive brain.

So I put my sewing machine on the kitchen counter and got to work. After countless trips to the Garment District, endless fabric testing, and sample after sample, I created something that felt simple but magical: support that made me feel held together without restricting me.

I put my entire savings, $3,000, into the first production run and could only afford to make two sizes. Once I saw that the product was genuinely helping people, I knew I wanted to keep growing, but I was repeatedly rejected by investors. So I took on $20,000 in credit card debt and kept going anyway. It was terrifying, but it worked.

Today, I’m so proud of how far Jelliebend has come and deeply honored to support this community.
