I Started Jelliebend With $3,000 and a Sewing Machine

I started Jelliebend in my tiny NYC apartment while training as a professional contortionist.

At the time, I knew I had scoliosis and was making very good use of my hypermobility - lol, though I didn’t fully know I was hypermobile yet.

My body was craving support, but every option I found was scratchy, bulky, restrictive, and a total sensory nightmare for my ADHD brain.

So I put my sewing machine on the kitchen counter and got to work. After countless trips to the Garment District, endless fabric testing, and sample after sample, I created something that felt simple but magical: support that made me feel held together without restricting me.

I put my entire savings- $3,000, into the first production run and could only afford to make two sizes.

After being rejected by investors,  I went $20,000 into credit card debt and kept going anyway. It was terrifying, but it worked.

Today, I’m so proud of how far Jelliebend has come and so honored to support this community.
